[MLA] Tidal

I have a couple contacts at Google I will try to warm up. Also don't forget
Amazon Prime Music; This is the default streaming service for Echo.

I now have a great audio contact at Netflix (they have a small audio
department) if there's anything needing doing there. Also a new high-level
contact at Apple if Buddy needs reinforcement.

In NY you should try to ask Buddy whether he has a suggestion to help Tidal
(and others) lower their target level without (seemingly) taking the party
out of playback.

Hi Kevin,

Nice work spreading the word. First impulse would be to proudly tell the
Tidal customer about this improvement.

I realize it is more important to spread the word among musicians, A&R
managers and mastering engineers, than among the users. They are the ones
who need to be conscious about this. If we can do anything to help that,
let's do it.

So at the moment we have default ON by Spotify, Tidal en Youtube. Default
OFF by Apple, Google Play Music and SoundCloud. I meet Buddy Judge next
week, hopefully he has some good news for me about Apple. I hope my Tidal
friends can connect me to SoundCloud. Google will still be difficult. Does
anyone have a good idea about how to get in contact with them? I will try
my own network again.

All the best,
Eelco

But it is hard to expect listeners to see quieter playback as an
improvement because, all else being equal, louder sounds better. If I were
Tidal I would not mess with existing users' settings. If NORM-L were used,
this wouldn't be a serious issue.

Incidentally, the Google Play store has a "What's new" section for each
app. Most developers publish a bulleted list describing recent changes. The
information there for the Spotify app always says, "We're always making
changes and improvements to Spotify. To make sure you don't miss a thing,
just keep your Updates turned on."
