<div dir="ltr">Like loudness normalization, automatic dynamics processing in cars and other noisy environments could reduce the pressure for mastering engineers to produce louder masters. The rub has always been loss of artistic control (although that control was lost decades ago with radio station processing).<div><br></div><div>Almost free DSP capacity now makes this viable but I think from that perspective it has been viable for close to a decade now starting from when receivers started including reverb presets. Paul Wolff told me they spent more than a year on this
algorithm... what the F? He wants to sell me his process for use
in "lower class" mastering where the client can't afford my personal
service. That would be so wrong in so many ways... would not sell my
service at all, only undersell my service. <br>

These kind of things do not belong as a permanent "solution" in the
normal end chain of the listener. I can see a place for the Bongiovi
approach only in a noise-sensing environment such as a car with a
microphone to sense the noise---- but without noise sensing, this is
just marketing b.s. from my point of view. <br>
