"FWIW, I just set up a new MacBook Pro which came with MacOS Monterey already installed, and Sound Check was ON by default.
Apple may finally be moving to having Loudness Normalization on by default which will take awhile to affect all or a majority of users, but it's a start.
I also set up a new iPhone a few weeks ago and I just checked and Sound Check was also turned on, but I can't say with 100% certainty that I didn't turn that on myself because I didn't think to check when I first set it up.
For computers and phones I always do a clean install, but I'm not sure what this means for users who choose to migrate all their settings from their old device.
Either way, it looks like Apple's shift is slowly happening and they'll no longer be the oddball streaming service that doesn't have it on by default in their desktop and mobile apps.
