[MLA] Some beautiful trumpet playing

Good afternoon!

During the Covid-19 pandemic the Berlin Philharmoniker is allowing free use of some of their amazing website.

There is a wonderful 8 minute video about their Principle trumpet player, Gábor Tarkövi.

There is some of the most beautiful trumpet playing you have ever heard on this film.  

Both the Vienna Phil and the Berlin Philharmoniker play with the Austrian Schagerl rotary-valve trumpets that are a little darker than piston valve trumpets.  It has valves and levers I've never seen on a normal trumpet.  Towards the end of the video Gábor mentions that, even for him, mistakes do happen and like a field-goal kicker who misses there is always another day.  It made me more glad than ever that I gave up my trumpet playing to go into engineering!
