But still they want a Stradivarius and debate to great extend on its sound character qualities. Isn't that strange? It is one of the most puzzling things I know in the recording business. Maybe they feel that _any_ recording is so far away from the real thing (both in sound quality and in the human presence), that they just don't care at all. Both a squashed recording played on the speakers of a smart phone and a great recording on a high end sound system don't give them the real experience, so they are just 'similar' in their ears.

Or do you have a better explanation?
