Hi Ian,

>> So perhaps we should build two targets into the loudness contest: the jury judges the subjective loudness of the track at -14 LUFS _and_ after a standard Optimod process (= like on air). Bob Orban will likely offer his help, but I also have very good contacts at Omnia if needed, or at the Dutch public pop music station (that has so much compression that a telephone line at -30 dB sounds equally loud as a -4 LUFS CD track…)

I am quite sure it will cause quite some waves on the social media if we could do such a contest. It would be a great 'tongue in cheek' opportunity to introduce the new loudness normalized standard to mastering engineers and artists world wide. Bob Ludwig, do you know a well known band that would be willing to offer a track for this? As a celebration of the End of the Loudness War? Metallica (http://meterplugs.com/blog/2016/11/24/metallica-hardwired-for-loudness.html) or the Red Hot Chili Peppers would be Main Prize...

Perhaps the best thing to do first is run some tests yourself to see how you can 'push it' best at -14 LUFS. I'm quite sure that having punch and depth in drums will be key to being loud at -14 LUFS. So probably we need to cooperate with a mix engineer to make this really work.

Cheers,
Eelco
